Public service is the provision of public goods and services by a given government or government body to the people living in the jurisdiction of the government. The provision is financed through taxation of the organisations and people resident in the jurisdiction of the government. The government provides the goods and services in order to fulfill its mission.

Public goods and services are those goods and services like roads which cannot be effectively delivered by private sector on its  own.
